FAQ

Top Questions About BHD

  • When you begin your research to find a therapist who's right for you, it can sometimes be overwhelming and confusing. We simplify the process by offering guidance and education via phone before you schedule your first visit. We want to make sure we answer all of your questions to ensure you're comfortable before setting your first appointment.

When you call or email us, our Office Manager and Intake Coordinator, Madi, will promptly respond and share detailed information about how our practice works. She'll gather some information to determine which therapist will best suit your needs (whether that's within or outside of our group). If we determine we are not the right fit, we're happy to give you referrals that will hopefully meet your needs. Our goal is to help individuals and families connect with mental health support that is suitable for them. See how our provider-matching process works.

  • Our practice schedules appointments Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Some providers offer appointments during the evening hours. For scheduling options and therapist availability, please contact our office.

  • You choose! You can visit our Dallas office or schedule a telehealth appointment. We'll work with you to schedule your appointment during the hours that best meet your needs. Telehealth appointments offer you the most flexibility.

  • We offer services for men, women, adults, adolescents, and children of all ages. Our group has providers who specialize in infant mental health, pediatrics, adult general mental health, women’s health, health-related concerns, parenting, and couples. Explore our range of service options.

  • BHD is a fee-for-service practice that does not contract with any insurance companies. Although we're not in-network with any insurance companies, we can provide the necessary information for out-of-network reimbursement, and many of our patients choose to use their insurance plans in this way.

BHD also accepts HSA and FSA accounts. We offer services at various investment levels through the employment of various professionals (e.g., Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Counselors, and trainees). Please contact us to receive information related to the specific fees and services you may need.

The No Surprises Act took effect January 1, 2022 which seeks to eliminate surprise medical billing, especially for individuals not using insurance to cover medical services. This act requires health care practices to let you know upfront the cost of services associated with your treatment plan. You have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate of services prior to treatment and the right to updated estimates as treatment needs may change.

At BHD each service is billed individually, and clients may discontinue services at any time. Prior to scheduling, you will be informed of the exact fee for each service, and you and your provider will discuss the recommended frequency of sessions based on your needs.

  • We recommend asking your insurance company the following three questions to better understand your benefits and the likelihood of reimbursement.

    1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    2. If yes, how much will be reimbursed (e.g., percentage or flat rate)?

    3. Do I have an out-of-network deductible?

  • Assessment services are designed to assess cognitive, academic, behavioral and emotional well-being of children and adults. Learn more about what we offer.

  • Everyone is unique, so your therapist will recommend a personalized treatment plan for your needs. Therapy is a journey and much like practicing for basketball or taking a class, the more time and energy you invest, the more you will get out of it. Therapy also involves phases and it will take a few sessions to get through the intake process and get to a point of “feeling” what therapy will feel like with your provider on an ongoing basis. Therefore, we encourage all BHD patients to attend at least 2-4 sessions prior to finalizing treatment decisions.
